Blackboard
Blackboard Learn is Anthology's LMS, and it speaks LTI 1.3 through the same 1EdTech standard Canvas uses. The real route in is Anthology's own Developer Portal: a vendor registers there once and gets a Client ID that a Blackboard admin pastes into their own Admin Panel, which hands back a Deployment ID scoping the tool to a course, a set of courses, or the account. None of that registration has happened. Lectora is not in the Developer Portal, and no Blackboard admin has installed it.
What works today
- Lectora launches as a standard LTI 1.3 tool, so Blackboard's launch mechanism is the same one Canvas uses in production.
- Blackboard's role vocabulary is already understood, including two of its quirks: Teaching Assistants and Graders arrive as a plain Instructor rather than a distinct sub-role, and Student Preview sends a nonstandard marker the parser filters out rather than treating as a role.
Not yet verified
- No Blackboard pilot has run. We do not claim support for a platform we have not graded a real course on.
- Lectora has not been registered in a live Anthology Developer Portal, so there is no Client ID to enter and no Deployment ID has been issued. Nobody has tested the Admin Panel side of the connection.
- Grade publishing and roster sync are unverified against Blackboard's own Assignment and Grade Services and Names and Role Provisioning Services implementation specifically.
- There is no Blackboard setup guide yet, and no confirmation of how the Ultra and Original placement types would each behave. Installation would be walked through with us.
How it connects
Blackboard registers external tools through the Anthology Developer Portal, not inside Blackboard itself: a vendor creates the LTI registration there and receives a Client ID, which a Blackboard admin then enters in their own Admin Panel under Integrations. That step hands back a Deployment ID, which is what actually scopes the tool to a course, a set of courses, or the whole account. Blackboard also runs two different course experiences, Ultra and Original, which register a tool's placement slightly differently. None of this has been done for Lectora: there is no Client ID in the Developer Portal and no Deployment ID has been issued.
Data and access
Lectora reads only what the assessment needs, and writes nothing back until an educator approves it. The Canvas access page documents the full scope, and our privacy policy, subprocessors and DPA cover the legal side.
