Slack
Some departments, research groups and teaching teams coordinate in Slack rather than Teams. The route in would be a Slack app: it would listen for the events its OAuth scopes allow, such as an @mention, and answer a slash command such as /lectora typed into a channel. A workspace admin authorizes that OAuth grant once for the whole workspace, the same step any Slack app goes through. It would live in the teaching team's own channel, not anywhere a student sits. None of it is built yet.

- There is no Slack app: no app manifest, no OAuth client, no event subscription and no slash command registered.
- Nobody has requested the OAuth scopes this would need, so no workspace admin has had anything to approve.
- What a shared channel would be allowed to show about a named student's grading is not designed, beyond the standing rule that it would never be a channel a student is in.
How it connects
Slack apps get data two ways, and Lectora would plausibly use both. The Events API is push-based: Slack calls the app whenever something matching a subscribed event happens, such as a message that @mentions it, but only for events the OAuth scopes granted at install actually cover; there is no reading a channel the app was never scoped into. A slash command runs the other way: a person types /lectora in a channel, and the app must return a response within three seconds, so anything slower would have to reply afterward instead. Both are configured once in the app's own settings and installed into a workspace through a single OAuth authorization a workspace admin grants; some workspaces gate that behind an approval-request flow rather than letting anyone install. Either mechanism would reach the channel the teaching team already uses for a course, never a channel a student is in. Lectora has no student-facing surface, and feedback still reaches a student only through Canvas, under the educator's own Canvas identity. Nothing of this is built yet: there is no Lectora Slack app, and no workspace has installed one.
Data and access
Lectora reads only what the assessment needs, and writes nothing back until an educator approves it. The Canvas access page documents the full scope, and our privacy policy, subprocessors and DPA cover the legal side.
