MCP
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the open standard that AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT use to connect to other tools. With Lectora as an MCP server, an educator could reach their courses, grading criteria and draft feedback from the assistant they already use, behind the same approval gate as inside Lectora. Lectora's own assistant already uses MCP internally to read Canvas, but Lectora is not available as an MCP server yet.

- There is no Lectora MCP server. Nothing can be added to Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant today.
- Which tools it would offer, and how an institution would authorise access, is not designed yet.
How it connects
Messaging tools connect through chat adapters built on the Vercel Chat SDK, so Lectora can answer where teachers and students already talk. AI assistants connect through the Model Context Protocol, where Lectora is added to Claude or ChatGPT as a tool server. Nothing is built for these channels yet, so this section describes the shape the connection will take rather than something you can switch on today.
Data and access
Lectora reads only what the assessment needs, and writes nothing back until an educator approves it. The Canvas access page documents the full scope, and our privacy policy, subprocessors and DPA cover the legal side.
